After 12-years in the trenches, Mr. Spencer got a chance to coach professional baseball with the San Rafael Pacific's independent minor league team located in the Bay Area. He worked with former Triple-A and Double-A players throughout the season and supported the field manager with pre-game preparation, in game management decisions and post-game analysis. During his time in San Rafael the coaching staff promoted 2 players to affiliated MLB organizations and another handful of players to higher levels of independent professional baseball. As a professional coach, Tyler was part of two very successful seasons including one sizzling month when the team went 26-5 during the month of August before winning a second professional Championship. Spencer has coached in over 600 baseball games from amateur to professional and holds an overall record of 357 - 282. This includes a 96 - 60 professional record as an assistant and a 234 -193 record as a Semi-Pro/ High School Team Manager resulting in a .558 win percentage that has yielded three amateur championships and two professional championships. Spencer is currently the General Manager of the American Legion Post 197, Redding Tigers 19U Baseball Club.

Spencer was the First Base Coach when former MLB player Eric Byrnes got his first professional hit after coming out of retirement to play for the San Rafael Pacifics in an effort to raise money for the Pat Tillman Foundation.
Spencer got his start in coaching at West Valley High School in 2006 before moving over to Redding Christian High School where he was recognized as Northern California CIF coach of the year in 2012. Spencer later jumped to Enterprise high school where he helped coach the team to back-to-back playoff appearances. Later on in 2017-2019 he was named head coach of the Redding Tigers American Legion team where 60% of his roster went on to play college baseball. Over the years he has learned how to foster trust from his teams and he takes pride in developing a players skill level while helping them understand the game of baseball on a deeper level. “I enjoy helping baseball athletes understand the game of baseball and become better people through hard work, trust and accountability” says Spencer.
Tyler Spencer started college at the University of Nevada and played with the Nevada Yankees summer collegiate team before transferring to Portland State University where he played on the PSU club team and was picked up by the Portland Bandits (Oregon Outlaws), a tournament team who traveled all over the Pacific Northwest and ended with a gold medal in the 2003 Oregon State Games. 2009 Pacific West Baseball League Championship with the Nor Cal Pirates out of Chico, who traveled throughout California, Nevada and Oregon competing against summer collegiate and semi-professional baseball teams.
